We’re so incredibly humbled by, proud of, and feeling inspired by our Southeast Asian Youth Power (SEAYP) youth leadership community showcase: Lines To Roots, hosted by our gracious partners at UOP’s @apidatpacific!
This year’s community event was inspired by the young leader’s critical examination of the historical and modern impacts of redlining in Stockton and communities across the country as it relates to inequities not just in housing and schooling, but also in policing, health, and wealth.
The young leaders engaged family, friends, and community members on thinking and sharing about the impacts of redlining and also invoked our ancestors and cultural roots as inspiration to resist and transform redlining’s impact on our community.
A big thank you to:
💙Our EMAC friends, families, and community for your never-ending support!
💙Lao Der and Sweet N Snow for the incredible food and shaved ice! (@laoderstkn@sweetnsnow209)
💙The University of the Pacific’s Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Student Services for hosting us!
The work is just beginning! Stay tapped in with EMAC to learn more about ways we’re building Southeast Asian & AAPI power in Stockton and the Central Valley and how you can get involved!
